The Last Day of Preschool

The time has finally come to the end of Sam's preschool year until September. A family picnic was held at one of our local parks which was the last time Sam saw her friends and teachers until the fall. Officially her last class is the 25th, but we are taking a trip to Edmonton to visit my dad and the rest of the family. Her teachers presented her with a certificate and blue ribbon yesterday. For the picnic today she made each teacher a little card to hand over, which they loved and all gave her a big hug. There was a magician, arts and crafts and juice and watermelon. Sam was bored of the magician, so went back to the swings and slide. Okay so ...... typical Heidi incident here....I'm standing in the middle of everyone...not just moms, but dads and whole families....there's a little seat with springs right at my shins that I didn't see...I was standing straight up with my head held high, sipping my water acting cool, watching Sam and decided to take a step forward.....tripping right over the springy seat, falling onto my hands to the ground - bottle of water flies one way, my sunglasses hanging halfway down my nose and my shins are bruised black and blue with skin hanging off them. I stand on my feet again, muttering oh my gaawwd and to make things worse, everyone's staring at me.... and to the guy not far away, I looked at him trying to justify myself...pointing down at this stupid thing.."oh my gawd! I was just standing there and there's this..." I stopped...I'm all flustered and embarrassed...Sam calls me from the monkey bars so I retrieved my water bottle and went over to her. I thought I was going to faint from the heavy anxiety that just surged through my body.....not to mention the pain my throbbing shins AND EGO were going through...

omg

I'm glad I'm home. with my feet up and cold cloths on each shin. I'm laughing so hard right now I'm crying!!

Mom's Visit

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but we've been quite busy since after Mother's Day. The end of May brought us a great visit from Mom and Rick. We ran around shopping, took the ferry across to Fort Langley for lunch after touring the historical town, then spent our last day together at the beach in White Rock. Mom spoiled us rotten and I ended up adding the perfect touch to my tropical landscape.....a tiki umbrella and a big bright sun to hang on the fence! Below that I put a deep blue planter pot beside the Yucca for a punch of color. Thanks to my mom we were now set for happy hour between the palms!
I missed them so much the minute they left, but it was so nice to finally see my mommie after 8 months.

Mom's taking it all in....this is her favorite place too.

Sam's grumpy after a couple of hours in the sun.....

After a sea-side lunch we stopped for Gelato....
