Being a stay-at-home mom has forced me to be more domestic than I've ever wanted...or expected for that matter. I've never been one to cook or bake or be the homemaker I find a lot of stay at home moms are. Now that Sam will be 3 next month, I'm finding myself starting to go a bit stir crazy, especially with the winter months being very rainy and cold. Yesterday I thought, why not stock up the freezer with pies so wayne and I have some dessert or for last minute dinner guests! Wow. for me that's ambitious but it sounds like fun. Peach pies and Wayne's favorite, blueberry.
I am also looking forward to making use of the bread maker Sam got for me at Christmas. Wayne's mom has some great recipes I'm looking forward to trying.
Well I'm off to the store to buy my ingredients! Will post pics.

Together Again - Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! A little late for wishes but I have been sick with the flu since we left for Vernon and it got worse Christmas day. Despite being layed out for the holidays, Christmas with my family was awesome.... all I've ever wanted for the past 7 years! Sam got to meet her cousins Gaib and Edan (Danny and Dawn's boys) and she was so happy to reunite with her cousins Cole and Gracie! It was so good to catch up with my cousins after all this time too. Now that we're back home in Vancouver I have been lying low so I can get better. I still have a cough and nasal congestion and now poor Wayne's got a sore throat. Hope it doesn't bog him down like it did for me.
Sam is happy with the Thomas train set we bought for her. Wayne's going to build a table for it. I'm slowly getting our loot put away each day. Sammy bought a bread maker for me so I can finally make some really healthy breads instead of buying the expensive ones...can you believe the cost of bread these days? And everything's enriched and has so much sugar and/or salt. Now I can make it my way.
Our New Year's Eve was pretty uneventful, as I was still sick and just went to bed early. We've been doing that the last couple of years regardless, so hopefully next year we can kick it up a notch. Now that this is a fresh year I'm hoping to start exercising more. We have a treadmill downstairs and I'm planning to work on our gym room...paint it and add a wall sized mirror and add a TV jack to mount a TV in the corner. I'm also planning to work on Sam's room...this is THE most important one, as she hasn't had a bed of her own since we moved in a year ago and has been sleeping with us! We don't mind, but she will be 3 next month so this has got to change. We have been working on buying a mattress for months and it never happens, either Wayne's always away or we didn't have the money. I've already bought her bedding which is in fairies and princesses colored in pink and purple. I plan to paint her back wall purple and add green accessories. The rest of the walls are a light grey already and that will contrast nicely.
Here's wishing everyone a good start to the new year!
