Happy 5th Sammy!

I can hardly believe our little Sammy girl has turned 5 years old today. It seems like yesterday she was toddling around with only gibberish words for a vocabulary. She's grown out of our favorite baby-like features; her once so tiny little feet have now grown longer and shaped like our grown up version. Thankfully one thing she still has is a tiny little voice that Wayne and I both love listening to and get such a kick out of. Soon that too will be gone, so I've forced myself to pick up the camcorder a lot more these days to capture what's left of the little girl we have.
We had her birthday over the weekend at the bowling alley, inviting 10 of her friends from the neighborhood and preschool. Mom and Rick were able to attend, then carried on home from there. My mom helped make all of this possible so thank you to my most wonderful mom ever!

39 and Holding

Happy Birthday to me....a week ago. 39. ouch. I feel like the episode of Friends where Joey pleaded to God, "WHY are you doing this to US!!" It's next year I'm really freaked about. How the hell did I get this freakin' OLD!!!?? Rick came to the coast for another business trip and mom came along to celebrate my birthday (and Sam's the following week). I cannot believe the shopping we did, which took my mind off the age issue; I was completely and utterly spoiled with pretty much a new living room. It started with "what would you like for your birthday, let's go shopping"...and ended with a chocolate brown faux leather accent chair for the entrance, 2 white faux leather accent chairs for the living room, a new slip cover to update the old love seat (as I 86'd the sofa to maximize space), matching lamp for 2 others I have, 2 dining chairs and a new picture for the dining wall. Wayne's present was a cream shag area rug to top it off and....voila! My next project...painting over the mid-tone brown walls to a deep chocolate. I'm also reupholstering the old dining chairs, hopefully this year sometime. For my birthday dinner I wanted to try out the Boathouse by the ocean in White Rock. The seafood was amazing not to mention the view at sunset. The Olympic torch relay was set to come through, so there were tons of people and events going on. The Royal Hudson steam train even rolled in.... great timing for a birthday celebration!
