What a great weekend we had and let me tell you, there was never a dull moment. First of all before Wayne got back on Friday from a business trip to Edmonton, Sam fell onto the cement face first and ended up with a black eye. All she wanted was her daddy back. We were quite happy to see him Friday night, which also meant it was time to spend the weekend together at the local Home Show and fair! Sam has been counting down the days on the calendar for 3 weeks for her first fair ever. With the tickets being a buck a piece at 4 tickets a ride (I know, crazy hey!) we were all done in less than an hour. Poor Sam had a melt down, but we tried to explain all good things must come to an end. Before we made that official, we took her to her favourite restaurant on the way home for a nice lunch and all was well when she went home with a balloon.

So after a lovely family day at the fair, Sunday rolls around with not quite the same excitement, although this was unplanned. I came home from doing groceries and couldn't get in the door because Wayne was resetting the alarm. I didn't think much of it, as it could have been anything, but when he opened the door for me he said the carbon monoxide detector went off again (as it did once about 2 months ago in the middle of the night). What puzzles us is, the meter reads zero each time this has happened. No more than 2 minutes later the fire department showed up with 3 firemen in uniform coming up our front steps, Wayne is panicking and (I was like... oooh-la-la!) JUST kidding.
no I'm not.
But we explained what's been happening and they scanned for gas leaks anyway, which was a comfort to me. Their meters read zero as well and they advised us to have the detectors checked. Meanwhile Sam was a bit scared since she just had a visit to the fire station, so I took her to the front window and showed her the big fire truck. On their way out, one of the guys turned to Wayne with a $150 false alarm bill and said their goodbyes. Needless to say we were a bit pissed off but I've looked into having it checked out and hopefully this will be sorted out soon!
So Monday rolls around and Wayne sticks to his promise to take Sam to her favourite indoor play centre Jungle Jacs. This place is just crazy. It's the coolest place I've been to with her. I think Wayne was even enjoying himself more at one point!

So then Tuesday....yesterday. It's morning and I'm going about my day relaxing on my laptop with a few cups of my usual dark roast coffee. Sam's on her laptop and Wayne comes back from Tim Horton's....grabs his laptop and we all sit at our computers having a lovely quiet day together as a family - something we don't get to do often, let alone a whole weekend that we've turned into our own Cassidy May long weekend! I went to bed last night, reflecting on our days, when it hit me....
I forgot to take Sam to preschool!!
WHO DOES THAT! How can I be THAT out-to-lunch?? And it's not like we were busy or anything!
I was mortified. I couldn't sleep and then I kept thinking of the carbon monoxide detector and worried about it all so much I barely slept.
I'll be on the phone with her preschool in a few moments to explain - I'm so embarrassed!
